Editor's Note: The FIRST EARTH BATTALION was called into being during the early 1980's by TASK FORCE DELTA at the Army War College to give the Army a way to see its full potential as an instrument of the future.
The charge was "to think the unthinkable."
This mythological force has functioned as a free service think tank to the Army ever since. As an instrument of creative thinking it has found its way into various current Army projects. Most recently, principle Academy Fellow Jim Channon, Lt. Colonel, US Army (Ret.), visually summarized the OBJECTIVE FORCE WARRIOR findings and teamed up with Army Chief of Staff Pete Schoomaker to open the mindset of future Army leaders at the School of Advanced Military Studies (SAMS) course at Command and General Staff College (CGSC). Jim also helped shape the future vision efforts of the new Secretary of the Army using his summarizing strategic graphics techniques.
Jim has led the World Business Academy fellows for three years on a quest to create the most positive future vision for the planet for the next 100 years. There is a direct correspondence between the academy's vision and focus on the "whole planet" and the efforts of the world's most effective action agent and institution, the United States Army.

First, if everyone knew the world already is, for all practical purposes, a global civilization that is mostly at peace and united in its cultural aspirations so we don’t have to worry when many of the old governing institutions come down under the weight of their own incompetence.

Recent strategic design done in association with Brad Mathison of Fearless Eye productions in Kansas city. This is an ideal view of an information platform ...awaiting the concepts that will be lettered on in each block space. This will ready this storyboard for an on stage presentation by a speaker who can follow the lettered blocks while he rolls through a presentation. Note actual representations of airport and other facilities.

We have just successfully created a strategic dreamscape for the Anton Design group of Lawton Oklahoma. Included in the strategic designs were an airoplex for global rescue services, a college campus with the same mission, and an airship facility for 21st century dirigibles. They will support the airlift with unusual items like 100 meter wind generator bladesas well as a greenway design leading to a global village complex. Jim is now on the board at Anton and works with Task Delta associate Tony Pokorny.
